- **Exhaust and Scavenging:** As the piston descends, the exhaust port opens, allowing the burnt gases to escape. Simultaneously, the intake port opens, allowing a fresh fuel-air mixture to enter the crankcase. This process, known as scavenging, ensures the removal of exhaust gases and the replenishment of the fresh mixture.

- **Crankcase:** The crankcase serves as the housing for the crankshaft, connecting rod, and piston. It also acts as the intake and exhaust port.

- **Crankshaft:** The crankshaft, connected to the piston via the connecting rod, converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into rotational motion.
