## DUCATI 750 SS and 900 SS DESMO (1975-1977)

The DUCATI 750 SS and 900 SS DESMO, produced from 1975 to 1977, were iconic Italian sport motorcycles that combined advanced engineering with stunning performance.

### Design

The 750 SS and 900 SS DESMO featured a trellis frame made of lightweight chrome-molybdenum steel, which provided exceptional rigidity and handling. The frame was suspended by a telescopic fork at the front and a pair of adjustable Marzocchi shock absorbers at the rear.

### Engine

At the heart of these motorcycles was the legendary 90-degree V-twin engine, renowned for its high-revving nature and distinctive "Desmodromic" valve actuation system. This system used mechanically operated valves, eliminating valve springs and allowing for higher engine speeds.

The 750 SS featured a 748 cc engine producing 60 horsepower, while the 900 SS boasted a larger 864 cc engine delivering 70 horsepower. Both engines were fed by twin Dell'Orto carburetors and featured a wet multi-plate clutch.

### Transmission and Drivetrain

Power was transmitted through a five-speed gearbox to a chain final drive. The drivetrain incorporated a PBR diaphragm clutch and a lightweight magnesium alloy chaincase.

### Brakes and Wheels

Braking was handled by a single Brembo disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The motorcycles rolled on lightweight Borrani wire-spoke wheels, measuring 18 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.

### Performance

The DUCATI 750 SS and 900 SS DESMO were renowned for their impressive performance. The 750 SS had a top speed of over 200 km/h, while the 900 SS could reach speeds exceeding 220 km/h. These motorcycles were also agile and responsive, with excellent handling and cornering capabilities.

### Legacy

The DUCATI 750 SS and 900 SS DESMO remain highly sought-after classic motorcycles today. They represent a landmark in Italian motorcycle engineering and continue to inspire enthusiasts with their timeless design and exhilarating performance.
