BMW N55 Engine
The BMW N55 engine, a marvel of German engineering, is a turbocharged straight-six petrol engine that made its international debut in 2009. Engine Structure

This setup allows for optimal use of exhaust flow in driving the turbine wheel, thus combatting turbo lag and enhancing throttle response. This feature drastically improves the engine's overall performance, making the turbochargers more responsive and enabling the car to accelerate more swiftly.
Cooling System
The BMW N55 incorporates an advanced cooling system. It includes an electric water pump that operates independent of engine speed. As a result, it enables more efficient cooling control and minimizes the energy consumption. The cooling system also features a thermostat for the engine and a separate one for the turbocharger unit, a feature designed to control the temperature and increase the life expectancy of the turbocharger.
Integrated Variable Valve Control
The N55 also possesses an integrated variable valve control system. Named as 'Double VANOS', this technology allows variable control of intake and exhaust camshafts, optimizes the charge cycle, and ensures efficient fuel consumption. The N55 engine provides power from 300 to 322 horsepower, depending upon the model and configuration. It delivers a robust torque output between 300 lb-ft and 332 lb-ft, a feature that ensures an energetic and engaging ride. It has a redline of 7000 RPM and reaches peak power at nearly 5000 RPM, making it a performer with a high-revving personality.
Emissions and Efficiency
