VOLKSWAGEN VW BEETLE 1200 TYPE 11 14 15
The Volkswagen Beetle is a compact car manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen from 1938 to 2003 across three distinct generations. It was officially known as the Volkswagen Type 1 (or, in German, Volkswagen Typ 1) until the introduction of the Volkswagen Golf in 1973, when it became known as the Volkswagen Beetle or Volkswagen Bug. The car is renowned for its simplicity, versatility, and affordability, and is widely recognized as an icon of the automotive industry.
The first generation of the Beetle, which was produced from 1938 to 1957, is characterized by its rounded, streamlined bodywork and distinctively arched fenders. This generation was powered by a rear-mounted, air-cooled, flat-four engine with a displacement of 985 cc and an output of 25 horsepower. The car featured a torsion bar suspension system and drum brakes on all four wheels.
The second generation of the Beetle, which was produced from 1958 to 1973, featured a number of significant changes from its predecessor. The bodywork was slightly enlarged and restyled, and the engine was upgraded to a displacement of 1192 cc and an output of 34 horsepower. The car also gained a longer wheelbase, wider track, and an improved suspension system.
The third generation of the Beetle, which was produced from 1974 to 1979, underwent a more thorough redesign than its predecessors. The bodywork was again enlarged and restyled, and the engine was further upgraded to a displacement of 1584 cc and an output of 44 horsepower. The car also gained a new interior, a digital instrument cluster, and an improved braking system.
The Volkswagen Beetle was discontinued in 2003, after having been produced for over 65 years and selling over 21 million units worldwide. It remains one of the most successful and influential cars in history, and is fondly remembered by generations of drivers around the globe.
