The Porsche 911 Carrera (993) is a sports car produced by Porsche from 1993 to 1998. It is the third generation of the 911 Carrera and was the last to be powered by an air-cooled engine. The 993 Carrera was available in coupé, targa, and cabriolet body styles.
The 993 Carrera was powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine. The engine was available in two power outputs: 272 horsepower (200 kW) in the base Carrera and 285 horsepower (210 kW) in the Carrera S. The engine was mated to a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission.
The 993 Carrera was also available with a number of performance-enhancing options, including the X51 Power Kit, which increased the engine power to 300 horsepower (220 kW). Other options included the M030 Sport Suspension, which lowered the ride height and stiffened the suspension, and the M491 Turbo Bodykit, which added a wider rear spoiler and a more aggressive front bumper.
The 993 Carrera was a critical and commercial success. It was praised for its performance, handling, and styling. The 993 Carrera is considered by many to be one of the best generations of the 911.
