The **Porsche 993**, also known as the **Porsche 911 Carrera**, is the fifth generation of the Porsche 911 sports car. It was produced from 1993 to 1998 and was the first 911 to be powered by a water-cooled engine. The 993 was also the first 911 to feature a six-speed manual transmission, as well as a new all-wheel drive system called Porsche Traction Management (PTM).
The 993 was available in both coupe and convertible body styles. The coupe featured a fixed roof, while the convertible featured a removable soft top. The 993 was also available in a variety of trim levels, including the Carrera, Carrera 2, Carrera 4, and Carrera 4S. The Carrera was the base model, while the Carrera 2 was a rear-wheel drive version of the Carrera 4. The Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S were all-wheel drive versions of the Carrera and Carrera 2, respectively.
The 993 was powered by a variety of engines, including a 3.6-liter flat-six engine, a 3.8-liter flat-six engine, and a 4.0-liter flat-six engine. The 3.6-liter engine was the base engine, while the 3.8-liter and 4.0-liter engines were available in the Carrera 4S and Carrera RS, respectively.
