### **Overview**
The Dodge Plymouth Conquest is a mid-engine sports car jointly developed by Chrysler and Mitsubishi Motors and sold under the Dodge (1984-1986) and Plymouth (1984-1990) brands. It was based on the second-generation Mitsubishi Starion and featured a 2.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission or a three-speed automatic transmission. The Conquest was available in two trim levels: base and ES.
### **Design**
The Conquest featured a sleek and aerodynamic design with a low-slung body, pop-up headlights, and a rear spoiler. The ES trim level added features such as a rear-window louver, fog lights, and a front air dam. The Conquest also had a spacious interior, despite its compact dimensions, with comfortable seating for four passengers.
### **Performance**
The Conquest was powered by a 2.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that produced 142 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque in base trim and 156 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque in ES trim. The engine featured a turbocharger with an intercooler, which helped to minimize turbo lag and provide linear power delivery.
The Conquest accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in around 7 seconds and had a top speed of 140 mph. The five-speed manual transmission provided precise and engaging gear changes, while the three-speed automatic transmission offered smooth and effortless shifting.
### **Handling**
The Conquest featured a four-wheel independent suspension with MacPherson struts in the front and a semi-trailing arm suspension in the rear. The suspension was tuned for a balance of handling and comfort, providing agile cornering and a smooth ride quality.
The Conquest also had a quick-ratio steering system that provided precise and responsive handling. The power-assisted brakes featured four-wheel disc brakes, which provided excellent stopping power.
