Mercedes-Benz 190 (W201)

The Mercedes-Benz 190 (W201) is a compact executive car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1982 to 1993. It was the first Mercedes-Benz model to be produced in a front-wheel drive layout, and was also the first to be powered by a four-cylinder engine. The 190 was a critical and commercial success, and helped to establish Mercedes-Benz as a leader in the compact luxury car market.

The 190 was designed by Bruno Sacco, who also penned the W123, W124, and W126 Mercedes-Benz models. The 190's design was inspired by the W123, but featured a more modern and aerodynamic shape. The 190 was also the first Mercedes-Benz model to be equipped with a plastic body, which helped to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency.

The 190 was initially offered with a choice of two four-cylinder engines: a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and a 2.0-liter diesel engine. In 1984, a 2.3-liter gasoline engine was added to the lineup, and in 1988, a 2.5-liter diesel engine was introduced. The 190 was also offered with a choice of three transmissions: a four-speed manual transmission, a five-speed manual transmission, and a four-speed automatic transmission.

The 190 was a well-equipped car for its time, and featured a number of standard features that were not available on many other cars in its class. These features included power windows, power locks, and air conditioning. The 190 was also available with a number of optional features, such as a sunroof, a leather interior, and a CD player.

The 190 was a popular car with both critics and consumers. It was praised for its handling, performance, and fuel efficiency.
