Jaguar XK8 & XKR (X100) The Jaguar XK8 and XKR are high-performance grand tourers produced by Jaguar Cars from 1996 to 2006. The XK8 succeeded the XJS and was available as a coupé or convertible; the XKR was a high-performance variant of the XK8, featuring a supercharged V8 engine. Both models were based on the Jaguar XJ (X308), but with a shorter wheelbase and a more sporting suspension setup. The XK8 was powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 290 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. The XKR was powered by a supercharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 370 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque. Both models were available with a five-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The XK8 and XKR were praised for their performance, handling, and styling. They were also criticized for their high fuel consumption and relatively high price. Despite these criticisms, the XK8 and XKR were successful models for Jaguar, with over 90,000 units sold worldwide.
Design The Jaguar XK8 and XKR were designed by Geoff Lawson and Keith Helfet. The design was inspired by the classic Jaguar E-Type, but with a more modern and aerodynamic look. The XK8 and XKR featured a long bonnet, a short rear deck, and a sleek roofline. The front of the car was dominated by a large grille, flanked by sleek headlights. Both models had a top speed of 155 mph. The XK8 and XKR were also very good handling cars. They featured a sophisticated suspension system that provided a smooth ride while still allowing for precise handling. The cars were also equipped with powerful brakes, which provided excellent stopping power.
