Ferrari 365 Berlinetta Boxer

The Ferrari 365 Berlinetta Boxer (BB) is a mid-engined sports car produced by Ferrari from 1968 to 1973. It was the first mid-engined Ferrari to be produced in series, and was succeeded by the 512 BB.

The 365 BB was designed by Pininfarina, and was based on the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. It featured a 4.4 L flat-12 engine, which produced 380 hp (283 kW; 385 PS) at 7200 rpm and 328 lb⋅ft (445 N⋅m) of torque at 5500 rpm. The engine was mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and the car had a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).

The 365 BB was a critical and commercial success, and was praised for its performance, handling, and styling. It was one of the most expensive cars in the world at the time, and was only produced in limited numbers. Today, the 365 BB is considered to be one of the most iconic Ferraris ever produced.

Design

The 365 BB was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina. The car featured a sleek and aerodynamic design, with a low, wide stance and a long, sloping nose. The front of the car was dominated by a large grille, which was flanked by two pop-up headlights. The rear of the car featured a Kamm tail, which helped to reduce drag.

The 365 BB was a two-seater, and the interior was designed to be both luxurious and functional. The seats were upholstered in leather, and the dashboard was covered in wood veneer. The car also featured a number of amenities, such as air conditioning, power windows, and a stereo system.

Engine and Performance

The 365 BB was powered by a 4.4 L flat-12 engine, which was based on the engine used in the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. The engine was mounted longitudinally in the middle of the car, and was mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The 365 BB had a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h), and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.4 seconds. The car's handling was also praised, and it was considered to be one of the best-handling cars in the world at the time.

Production

The 365 BB was produced from 1968 to 1973. A total of 387 cars were produced, including 200 coupes and 187 spyders. The coupe was the more popular model, and accounted for about two-thirds of total production.

The 365 BB was a very expensive car, and was only produced in limited numbers. Today, the 365 BB is considered to be one of the most iconic Ferraris ever produced, and is highly sought-after by collectors.
