The Citroën Xsara is a compact car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën from 1997 to 2000. It was available in three- and five-door hatchback, four-door saloon, and five-door estate body styles. The Xsara was powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines, and was available with a variety of trim levels.
The Xsara was based on the same platform as the Peugeot 306, and shared many of its mechanical components. However, the Xsara was given a more distinctive appearance, with a more rounded and aerodynamic body. The Xsara was also available with a wider range of engines than the 306, including a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine.
The Xsara was a popular car in Europe, and was particularly well-received in France. It was praised for its stylish design, comfortable interior, and good handling. The Xsara was also relatively affordable, making it a popular choice for budget-minded buyers.
In 2000, the Xsara was replaced by the Citroën C4. However, the Xsara remained in production in some markets until 2003.
