**BMW R80 and R80/7**
The BMW R80 and R80/7 are motorcycles manufactured by BMW Motorrad from 1977 to 1995. They are powered by a 797 cc (48.6 cu in) air-cooled, four-stroke, flat-twin engine and have a five-speed transmission. The R80 was available with a variety of bodywork options, including a naked roadster, a half-faired sport model, and a full-faired touring model. The R80/7 was a more basic model with fewer features.

**Transmission**
The R80 and R80/7 have a five-speed transmission. The transmission is a constant-mesh type, with gears 1, 2, 3, and 4 being helical cut and gear 5 being straight cut. The transmission has a final drive ratio of 3.44:1.
**Suspension**
The R80 and R80/7 have a telescopic front fork with 180 mm (7.1 in) of travel. The rear suspension is a swingarm with two shocks and 160 mm (6.3 in) of travel.
**Brakes**
The R80 and R80/7 have single-disc brakes front and rear. The front brake disc is 260 mm (10.2 in) in diameter and the rear brake disc is 265 mm (10.4 in) in diameter.
**Weight**
The R80 weighs 445 pounds (202 kg) dry, while the R80/7 weighs 435 pounds (197 kg) dry.
**Dimensions**
The R80 and R80/7 have a wheelbase of 1,425 mm (56.1 in). The R80 has a seat height of 820 mm (32.3 in), while the R80/7 has a seat height of 800 mm (31.5 in). The R80 has a ground clearance of 140 mm (5.5 in), while the R80/7 has a ground clearance of 130 mm (5.1 in).
**Performance**
The R80 and R80/7 have a top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h). The R80 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.5 seconds, while the R80/7 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.8 seconds. The R80 has a fuel economy of 45 mpg (5.2 L/100 km), while the R80/7 has a fuel economy of 44 mpg (5.3 L/100 km).
