The Kawasaki GPz 900R, also known as the Ninja 900R, was a high-performance motorcycle manufactured by Kawasaki from 1984 to 1990. It was the first production motorcycle to exceed 150 mph (240 km/h) in top speed, and was one of the most sought-after sportbikes of its era.
The GPz 900R was powered by a liquid-cooled, 908cc inline-four engine that produced 115 horsepower (86 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 74 lb-ft (100 N·m) of torque at 8,500 rpm. The engine was mated to a six-speed transmission, and power was sent to the rear wheel via a chain drive.
The GPz 900R's chassis was a steel double-cradle frame with a 57.5-inch (1460 mm) wheelbase. The suspension consisted of a 41mm telescopic fork up front and a Uni-Trak single-shock in the rear. The brakes were dual 320mm discs up front and a single 230mm disc in the rear.
The GPz 900R was a revolutionary motorcycle for its time. It was one of the first production bikes to feature a full fairing, and its aerodynamic design helped it to achieve its record-breaking top speed. The GPz 900R was also one of the first bikes to be equipped with a digital instrument panel, which provided the rider with information such as speed, rpm, fuel level, and coolant temperature.
