## BMW F650CS, F650GS, and GS.Dakar (2004-2007)
The BMW F650CS, F650GS, and GS.Dakar are dual-sport motorcycles that combine on-road comfort with off-road capability.
### Design
The F650CS is designed for urban commuting and street riding. It features a low seat height, upright riding position, and a compact design for easy maneuverability in tight spaces.
The F650GS is a more versatile motorcycle, suitable for both on-road and off-road adventures. It has a taller seat height, longer suspension travel, and a rugged design for handling rough terrain.
The GS.Dakar is the most off-road capable of the three models. It features a long-travel suspension, reinforced frame, and a larger fuel tank for extended expeditions.
### Engine
All three models are powered by a 652cc single-cylinder engine. The engine produces 50 horsepower and 40 lb-ft of torque, providing ample power for both on-road and off-road riding.
The engine is liquid-cooled and fuel-injected for smooth and efficient operation. It is also equipped with a catalytic converter to meet emissions regulations.
### Transmission
The F650CS and F650GS are available with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. The GS.Dakar is only available with a five-speed manual transmission.
The manual transmission offers precise gear changes and allows for greater control over engine braking. The automatic transmission provides smooth and effortless shifting, making it ideal for urban commuting.
### Suspension
The F650CS features a conventional front fork and a monoshock rear suspension. The F650GS and GS.Dakar have a more sophisticated suspension system with a 43mm inverted front fork and a BMW Motorrad Paralever rear suspension.
The Paralever suspension system isolates the rear wheel from the engine and transmission, resulting in a smoother ride and improved handling.
### Brakes
All three models are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes front and rear. The front brake rotors are 320mm in diameter, while the rear brake rotor is 265mm in diameter.
The brakes provide excellent stopping power and modulation, ensuring safe and controlled braking in all conditions.
