Volvo S40 V50 2005

The Volvo S40 and V50 are compact executive cars manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars from 2003 to 2012 over a single generation, as a four-door sedan (S40) and five-door station wagon (V50). The S40 and V50 were based on the Ford C1 platform, shared with the first generation European Ford Focus and Mazda3. The S40 and V50 were available with a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as a five-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. All engines were mated to a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission. The S40 and V50 were known for their safety features, including standard side airbags, curtain airbags, and whiplash protection. The cars also received high ratings in crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The S40 and V50 were discontinued in 2012, and were replaced by the Volvo S60 and V60.
