1965 Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth/Imperial Lineup



The 1965 model year was a significant one for the Chrysler Corporation, as it marked the introduction of several new and redesigned vehicles. These included the redesigned Dodge Dart, Coronet, and Polara, as well as the all-new Plymouth Barracuda and Valiant.

The Dodge Dart was redesigned for 1965, and was now available in two different wheelbases: 116 inches for the base model and 117 inches for the GT model. The Dart was offered in a variety of body styles, including a two-door sedan, two-door hardtop, four-door sedan, and four-door hardtop. Engine options included a 170 cubic-inch Slant-6, a 225 cubic-inch Slant-6, and a 273 cubic-inch V8. New for 1965 was the Dart GT, which featured a more powerful 273 cubic-inch V8 engine, as well as a number of other performance enhancements.

The Dodge Coronet was also redesigned for 1965, and was now available in two different wheelbases: a base sedan with a 116 inch wheelbase; or hardtop coupe and convertible with a 117 inch wheelbase. The Coronet was offered in a variety of body styles, including a two-door sedan, two-door hardtop, four-door sedan, four-door hardtop, and convertible. Engine options included a 225 cubic-inch Slant-6, a 273 cubic-inch V8, and a 318 cubic-inch V8. New for 1965 was the Coronet 500, which featured a more powerful 383 cubic-inch V8 engine, as well as a number of other performance enhancements.

The Dodge Polara was redesigned for 1965, and was now available in a single wheelbase of 119 inches. The Polara was offered in a variety of body styles, including a two-door hardtop, four-door hardtop, four-door sedan, and convertible. Engine options included a 318 cubic-inch V8, a 361 cubic-inch V8, and a 383 cubic-inch V8. New for 1965 was the Polara 500, which featured a more powerful 426 cubic-inch V8 engine, as well as a number of other performance enhancements.

The Plymouth Barracuda was an all-new model for 1965, and was based on the Plymouth Valiant. The Barracuda was offered in a single body style: a two-door hardtop. Engine options included a 170 cubic-inch Slant-6, a 225 cubic-inch Slant-6, and a 273 cubic-inch V8. New for 1965 was the Barracuda Formula S, which featured a more powerful 273 cubic-inch V8 engine, as well as a number of other performance enhancements.

The Plymouth Valiant was redesigned for 1965, and was now available in two different wheelbases: 106 inches for the base model and 111 inches for the station wagon. The Valiant was offered in a variety of body styles, including a two-door sedan, two-door hardtop, four-door sedan, four-door hardtop, and station wagon. Engine options included a 170 cubic-inch Slant-6, a 225 cubic-inch Slant-6, and a 273 cubic-inch V8. New for 1965 was the Valiant Signet, which featured a more luxurious interior and a number of other upgrades.
