2004-2007 Mercury Monterey
The Mercury Monterey is a full-size sedan that was produced by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company from 2004 to 2007. It was the successor to the Mercury Sable and was based on the Ford Five Hundred platform. The Monterey was available in two trim levels: the base Premiere and the upscale Ultimate.
The Premiere came standard with a 3.0-liter V6 engine that produced 203 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. The Ultimate came standard with a 3.9-liter V8 engine that produced 280 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque. Both engines were paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Monterey was praised for its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and powerful engines. However, it was criticized for its bland styling and poor fuel economy.
Standard features on the Premiere included 17-inch alloy wheels, power windows and locks, air conditioning, and a CD player. The Ultimate added 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a premium sound system.
Available options on the Monterey included a navigation system, a DVD entertainment system, and a rear-seat DVD player.
The Monterey was discontinued after the 2007 model year. It was replaced by the Mercury Milan.
