1971 Holden HQ Monaro GTS

The 1971 Holden HQ Monaro GTS was a high-performance muscle car produced by Holden, a division of General Motors (GM). It was the top-of-the-line model in the Holden HQ range, and was known for its powerful V8 engine, sporty handling, and aggressive styling.

The HQ Monaro GTS was based on the Holden HQ Kingswood, but featured a number of unique features that set it apart from its more pedestrian siblings. These included a distinctive grille with four headlights, a blacked-out bonnet, bonnet scoop, flared wheel arches, and a unique rear spoiler. The GTS also rode on a shorter wheelbase than the Kingswood, giving it a more athletic stance.

Under the bonnet, the HQ Monaro GTS was powered by a 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 engine that produced 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The engine was mated to a four-speed manual transmission or a three-speed automatic transmission. The GTS also featured a number of performance enhancements, such as a heavy-duty suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and a limited-slip differential.

The HQ Monaro GTS was a formidable performer, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.0 seconds and reaching a top speed of 140 mph. It was also a very capable handler, with responsive steering and excellent cornering ability.

The 1971 Holden HQ Monaro GTS was a true muscle car icon. It was a powerful, stylish, and aggressive machine that represented the pinnacle of Holden's performance car lineup.
