CITROEN AX 1986-1996
The Citroën AX is a supermini car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën between 1986 and 1998. It was available in three- and five-door hatchback, four-door saloon and an estate version called the Evasion. The AX was the successor to the Citroën Visa and was replaced by the Citroën Saxo.
The AX was designed by Marcello Gandini and was based on the platform of the Peugeot 104. It was powered by a range of four-cylinder petrol engines, with capacities ranging from 1.0 to 1.6 litres. The AX was also available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The AX was a popular car in Europe, with over 2.4 million units produced. It was praised for its handling, fuel economy and practicality. However, it was also criticized for its lack of power and refinement.
