Alfa Romeo 33

The Alfa Romeo 33 is a compact car produced by the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo from 1983 to 1995. It was the first front-wheel drive Alfa Romeo since the Alfasud, and was based on the Fiat Ritmo platform. The 33 was available in three- and five-door hatchback, four-door saloon, and two-door convertible body styles.

The 33 was powered by a variety of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, ranging in size from 1.3 to 1.8 litres. The most powerful engine was the 1.8-litre Twin Spark, which produced 137 bhp (102 kW; 139 PS). The 33 was also available with a range of transmissions, including a five-speed manual, a four-speed automatic, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It was designed by Ermanno Cressoni with an unusual angular design, which was inspired by the Alfa Romeo Alfasud.

The 33 was a popular car in Europe, and was particularly successful in Italy, where it was the best-selling car in its class for several years. It was also exported to other markets, including North America, where it was sold as the Alfa Romeo Sprint. The 33 was discontinued in 1995, and was replaced by the Alfa Romeo 145.
